Elina Arike (CF 5-11, 2000) from Finland
Elina is a unselfish lefty combo-forward with some talent and knowledge for the game. She has a solid frame and wide shoulders, but she still needs to develop her athleticism for the next level. Arike possesses interesting wingspan and is able to play from the contact. The Finnish shows quite good mobility and body control, although she has not outstanding speediness running the floor. Elina has good hands to catch, grab and pass the ball.
In the D end Elina displays good energy, correct D stand and interesting mobility, and is able to disturb or steal coming from the weak side; but she can’t stop real SF yet. Her lateral mobility allows her to guard stretch-4 pretty well, and her boxing out discipline is remarkable. She usually takes the ball from side to side after rebounding in the D end.
In the O end, Arike shows good dribbling fundamentals and she loves to drive to the rim. Her 1st crossover step is quite good and she often passes the defender in its first or second dribble. She also knows how to use her wide shoulders in order to protect himself inside the paint. The Finnish is an unselfish player who is capable to share the ball off the dribbling, finding any teammate at the corner thanks to her interesting passing skills and vision court (…for a wing). Elina is brave driving to the rim, when she displays a soft touch close to the rim. Her game without the ball is remarkable and she possesses a great shooting release, becoming to a real threat in the spot-shot situations (even beyond the arc).
