Helena Pueyo (CG 5-10, 2001) from Spain

Helena is a multi-task prospect with good feeling for the game who possesses a big talent to play basketball. Her length is quite good when she plays as a PG, and her mobility and O fundamentals are remarkable. Despite of her bright future, she should improve her aggressiveness on the D end and increase her strength (she is working in the process).

In the D end, Pueyo seems a bit shy playing through the contact, and she doesn’t have a great lateral mobility guarding the ball. But she shows good feeling and knowledge about the game, and usually she is in the correct spot at the correct time. Pueyo also possesses quick hands, which allows her to deflect (or steal) the ball in the air (less from the dribbling). Her length, wingspan and jumping coordination package makes to Helena a good rebounder. She also is an interesting shot-blocker from the wing.

In the O, the Spaniard shows a huge potential because she is able to do almost everything in the correct way: she can either scoring or sharing the ball at the same level. Pueyo has the PG fundamentals (dribbling and passing skills), is able to play different tempos, her shooting mechanics are really good (even from deep range) and she plays cleverly without the ball. Helena is an unselfish player with the ability to find her teammates (both inside and weak corner), but Pueyo can score in different ways (she can drive in traffic to the rim) and she is a real threat behind the 3p line. Playing as a PG, Helena is able to create from the screen-balls, although she prefers to play 1-and-1 from the wing.
