Kendra Chery (PF 6’2”, 2001) from France. After U16 FIBA Europe Championship Bourges 2017.

Kendra is an athlete. Despite of she has a regular length for a PF, Chery has a complete athletic package to play basketball: athleticism, strength, wingspan, mobility, explosiveness…. Kendra has big hands and running really well the court. You may not think in Chery as a SF in a future, but Kendra’s capability to extend shooting range is the key to see her as a real Stretch-4.

In the D end, Kendra shines in almost all the aspects: interesting lateral mobility which allows her to defend face-to-face plays against stretch-4, wingspan and jumping ability to protect the rim, huge rebounder (timing), lateral mobility in flash and recover situations (regular moving back, but good enough). Despite of that package, she needs to improve her knowledge, and should be more accurate sharing the 1st pass after rebound.

In the O, Chery run really the well the court and she can put the ball on the floor and play “basic” one-and-one from 3p line. She possesses a good shooting mechanics from the charity line, but she can’t translate it into a reliable shot in the plays. Kendra can put multiple screen-ball in the same play, and roll correctly (she shouldn’t use pick-and-pop because her lacks of mid-range shot). Definitely Kendra has not range; however she displays a soft touch close to the rim with both hands (bank shot most of them). The French is able to seal the low block and she shows a great footwork from there. She usually gets something positive when she is inside the paint with the ball; due she is able to score from the contact.
