Nyara Sabally (PF 6’2”, 2000) from Germany

The last U18 European Championship MVP (Division b) is an inside prospect with great athletic package, good size and wingspan but regular length for a PF in the Pac-12. Although she has remarkable mobility and quick enough lateral slide on the D, she probably won’t be able to play at SF spot in the NCAA. Nyara runs really well the court, and her explosiveness is good enough. She plays with great energy and desire, and we usually can see her getting points after double efforts.

In the D end, the German shows a great dominance thanks to her mobility (which allows her to defend both face-to-face and back-to-the-basket 1c1 plays) and she is able to use her body to control the rebounding area as well. She is also an interesting rim protector, because her mobility, wingspan and jumping coordination are really good. Her aggressiveness and determination package also allows her to deflect (or steal) an interesting quantity of balls.

Sabally runs really well the court either without the ball or driving the break after cleaning the D board. She has promising dribbling fundamentals for a player of its age, size and position. The German is able to put the ball on the floor to play face-to-face plays against other inside players, and her explosiveness allows her to pass even Stretch-4 when they guard her. She has a remarkable shooting mechanics from the charity line, and she showed a good footwork and soft touch inside the paint in the last U18 European Championship hosted at Dublin. Her passing ability is able interesting, both passing inside-outside (from block to weak side) and passing outside-inside (from top of the key to play with the other inside player).
