Nerea Hermosa (C 6’4”, 2001) from Spain

Nerea is a pure post player, with a remarkable size at this stage, wide frame, good wingspan and interesting mobility, but she has plenty of room to grow. She may improve her strength and athleticism, which will allow her to be more consistent inside the paint.

In the O end, Nerea runs correctly the court for a player of her frame, and usually takes advantage of her size playing back to the basket close to the rim, where displays an interesting footwork and body control. Her hands are quite good, but she is still a bit inconsistent playing out of the tactician form. Hermosa possesses a good touch close to the rim, and she will likely become a good pick and roll player. She is able to put the ball on the floor in order to balance her body before the release, and is reliable from the charity line. Nerea can’t create her own shots, yet. At least for now consistently…

In D end, the Spaniard has assimilated the flash-and-recover automatism in ball screen situations, although she still moves bit slow. Nerea has good boxing-out discipline, but she is not a huge rebounder yet, and she is not a rim protector neither. Despite of that, her fundamentals and discipline will help Nerea to become a good defender if she achieves to increase her athleticism.

Hermosa is a long term prospect, with good size, discipline, enough fundamentals in both ends of the court, who only needs to improve her athleticism and keeping healthy.
