Julia Förner (SG 5’10”, 2001) from Germany

Have you ever found a player who was you falling in love with at first sight? That player is Julia Förner for us. We couldn’t see her on the court as much time as we wanted, but she showed some flashes of its potential. Julia is a SG with a nice size, remarkable wingspan and good athletic basis. She has an upper strength at this stage and good leap ability, and likely improve her explosiveness and quickness in a natural evolution. Julia started play basketball at age of 11, and previously worked her athleticism practicing Gymnastics. So she has a plenty of room to improve her body and her game/knowledge.

In the O end, Förner displays good fundamentals and shows her as an unselfish player who shares the ball quickly and easily, with a assimilate extra-pass notion. Good shooting skills, with a nice release even behind the arc are included is her offensive repertoire. She is not a great ball-handler yet, and feels a bit unconfident as a primary PG, but she is able to drive the ball from end to end (less efficient with left hand). Her 1st dribbling step allows her to past the defender. She didn’t take much shots last summer, but she will get more offensive responsibility this upcoming FIBA tournament.

In the D end, Förner has a “hide” potential and interesting mobility who allows her to be good player defending the dribble, even against faster players (as Vasilevich from Belarus or Fitik from Turkey); but she has still a bit slow footwork against ball-screens. Julia is always active in this side of the court, both trying to steal from the weak side and disturbing passing lines.
