Malene Pedersen (G 5’9”, 2001) from Denmark

Malene was born late (December) on 2001, so she still has a huge room of improving. Pedersen has good size for a G, but regular athleticism. Despite of that, she moves in really effective way for the court due her smartness and feeling for the game. The Danish is able to do a bit of everything.

In the D end, Pedersen doesn’t display a great athleticism nor huge aggressiveness, but she is able to grab a good number of rebounds (almost 6 in the last U16 FIBA Europe Championship Division B) and her lateral mobility is not bad at all (not outstanding). She stands out stealing balls, which comes either using quick hands on the dribbling or deflecting passes coming from the weak side. Malene still struggles guarding the ball all the court against athletics PG, but she is quite good on the ball in the half court.

In the O end, the Danish shows promising dribbling skills when she plays as a primary PG, and her interesting passing ability allows her to dish the ball in the correct way (almost 4 assists per game in the 2017 U16 FIBA Championship Division B last summer). Her package of dribbling and passing fundamentals (besides to her smartness and selfless) makes to Malene a good player in the pick and roll situations. She has not an outstanding explosiveness yet, but she can score and is able to create her own shots coming from the dribbling (layups and floaters are in her repertoire).  As a spot shooter, Pedersen displays a remarkable release and we can think in her as a real threat behind the 3 points line.
