Laura Méndez (PG 5’9”, 2001) from Spain
Laura is an unselfish PG with a nice size and promising athleticism. Her mobility and activity are remarkable on both sides of the court, and displays a tireless game. Although her tactician mentality, she is able to score both driving and shooting from deep.
Méndez has a tireless motor in the D end, and her mobility and slide step are remarkable. She is able to guard the ball from end to end, and usually puts in trouble the opponent PG. Laura disturb the natural offensive sequence of the team in front of her, and her activity, mobility and quick hands package allows her to steal the ball in different ways. She is quite good guarding the player without the ball as well.
In the O, the Spaniard displays a first-passing game, sharing the ball as soon as she can; but she is also able to drive to the rim, and she usually finishes successfully. Her vision court is quite good, and she pass the ball with accuracy. Laura possesses an interesting speediness, which allows her to finish the break after stealing or running without the ball. Although she should improve her shooting off the dribbling in order to be less predictable in the pick-and-roll plays, she manages pretty well into those kind of situations. Méndez also has good shooting fundamentals, and she is a real threat shooting behind the 3 points line.
