Aleksa Gulbe (PF 6-1, 2000) from Latvia after U16 FIBA Europe Udine 2016 and U17 WC Zaragoza 2016

Aleksa has not a great length for an inside player, but she possesses a wide frame and a great strength to play against bigger player. Her determination and heart playing, are also remarkable. A powerful lower body allows Gulbe pushing and boxing out with energy.

In the O end, Gulbe displays an unselfish and tactician game, and in her O package include: great shooting mechanics (with a great efficiency from the elbow and mid range), sealing the block really hard, good mobility and foot-work in the back-to-the-basket game and soft touch close to the rim. She also works very hard the O rebound. When is necessary, she is able to put the ball on the floor, but she is not a great ball-handler. The Latvian can pass the ball either from the block (double-team) or from the dribbling. She needs to cut down the TO.

On the D end, Aleksa plays very hard, and is able to stop the ball in the face off game. She doesn’t refuse the contact to stop the ball, and her boxing-out mechanics are really good. In the flash situations (P&R), Aleksa is nearly good due to her mobility, but it still has a great room to improve.
