Yana Haliakova (F 6-1, 2001) from Belarus. After FIBA U16 Udine 2016

Yana has a promising size for the Combo Forward position, mainly at this stage. Although she has a wide frame, Yana has not a great athleticism (but still growing); her wingspan is quite good and she also has good hands (catch and grab). Her shooting mechanics (spot shot) are really good, and she also displays a remarkable quick release (even from the 3p corner). She is able to put the ball on the floor to create space to display her reliable shot, but still has not enough either athleticism or skills to be a great driver to the rim. On the D end, Haliakova shows a good mobility and intuition/vision court from the weak side, which allows her either deflecting passes or blocking shots. But her 1st lateral slide is not good enough, and she struggles too much guarding SF in the face-off plays. Yana is prospect with promising size and fundamentals to become in a CF, but needs to develop her athleticism, dribbling skills and play harder.
