Carla López (F 6-2, 2000) from Spain. After U16 FIBA Europe Udine 2016 and U17 FIBA WC Zaragoza 2016.

Carla is a versatile Foward who spent a lot of time playing as a Post player with the Youth National teams last summer, but she has the tools to play face to face game. She has not a huge length, but her size is quite good for a F and runs really well the court. Although Carla doesn’t possesses an outstanding athleticism, she is keep working on that and doesn’t refuse play through the contact.

On the O end, López shows promising fundamentals both shooting and passing the ball and as I said before, Carla runs really well the court, and she usually arrives before her opponent to the baseline. The Spaniard can share the ball efficiently from the top of the key, dishing good passes to her inside teammates. Carla is not a huge ball-handler, but can drive the ball in a really good way for a player of her size. Her shooting release is really good, but should improve her athleticism in order to control her body in catch-and-shot situations. López knows how to play without the ball, moving to the back of opponents really well. At block, Carla displays a good footwork and soft touch close to the rim.

In the D end, Carla is able to block shots, but is not a real rim protector. Regular player as a rebounder, she can initiate the fast break either passing or dribbling after grabbing the ball. López doesn’t refuse to play from contact on the D end, but should need improve her athleticism.

Carla López is a good player, with great fundamentals and nice knowledge who needs to improve her athleticism (good basis) and keeping healthy.
