Awak Kuier (C 6’5”, 2001) from Finland after BSBC 2017

Awak is a lanky prospect, with a great length, huge wingspan and interesting mobility. Her frame is still in its early phase of development, and it seems that her athleticism’s improving room is unlimited. Kuier runs really well the court, and despite of her fragile image, doesn’t refuse to play from the contact, but she is still struggles to play against, more powerfully players. She needs (obviously) to add strength and fill her body.
Awak has good hands both catch and grab, and possesses almost all the offensive fundamentals: good shooting mechanics (still a bit low point release, but soft touch even from 3-4m), can put the ball on the floor (one or two dribbles to create space or easy layups, but still raw skills) and has a great attitude getting a seal at the block (should make a step forward to catch the ball). Kuier is an unselfish player who look first to share the ball.

She is a promising stopper in the D end. Her mobility and huge wingspan allow to Awak to block shots and disturb layups. She also uses her big hands and timing to grab a good number of rebounds. Awak shows a bit naïve (sometimes) guarding at the block: she hides behind the opponent and then tries to deflect. Kuier is able to defend ball-screens with flash and recover situations (mobility and wingspan to intimidate the passing line).
