Raquel Carrera (PF/C 6-2, 2001) from Spain. After U16 FIBA Europe Udine 2016

Raquel has not a huge size, but this PF plays with a huge intensity and desire. Carrera posseses an interesting wingspan, and she also shows a promising athleticism and mobility without the ball. So far, it doesn’t seem that she can move to the SF position, because she has neither outstanding ball-handling ability nor slide quickness to guard athletics SFs.

Despite of these shortages, Raquel runs really well the court, displays a good footwork from the low block, shows a huge boxing-out discipline and is able to put the ball on the floor with efficiency (but ball-handling skill set). Her shooting fundamentals are quite good (needs to improve release) and she is capable to score from the contact inside the paint, but sometimes she seems a bit hurried taking shots around the rim. She works very hard the offensive rebound (but should keep the ball high after grab), and when it grabs them, she can finish with either of the two hands under the rim.

On the D end, Carrera displays a great activity: disturbing passes, guarding at the block bigger players, and always displaying an unstoppable footwork. Carrera is also a huge rebounder and has enough mobility to become an interesting shot-blocker.
