Lucija Kostic (PF 6-2, 2000) from Croatia. After U16 FIBA Europe Udine 2016

Lorena is a lefty stretch-4 with an average size but quite good wingspan, who lacks a great leaping ability. Her athleticism is under construction, but runs correctly up and down and her mobility is nearly good.

Kostic displays remarkable vision court and passing skills, finding easily her teammates both cutting the paint and moving through the baseline. She prefers to play the face-off game over sealing the block post, catching the ball (good hands) around 4/5 meters. The Croatian loves playing pick-and-roll plays (rolling or moving to mid range to play 1c1 face-off game). Lucija displays a nice shooting mechanics from there, but her release (high) is a bit slow which a problem becomes when Kostic is guarding closely. Kostic is able to put the ball on the floor (better with left hand), but still struggles a bit finishing with the offhand. Lucija likes using the bank-shots. Her knowledge/maturity is remarkable at this stage.

Kostic displays a good footwork working the offensive rebound, and possesses a good vision court on the D end which allows her to steal/disturbing many passes from the weak side. She doesn’t look like a hard defender (not great strength yet), but she can rebounding consistently and block shots when is necesary. Lucija is an interesting player with good fundamentals who needs to improve intensity and strength.
